Grim Hill: The Secret Deepens, by Linda DeMeulemeester

Grim Hill: The Secret Deepens (Grim Hill, #2)Grim Hill: The Secret Deepens by Linda DeMeulemeester

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This series is fast paced and full of humor, but the underlying concepts are real Celtic myths about fairies, and not the cute little ones with wings. I highly recommend these for middle grade readers (and I like them too, even though I'm a bit older than that :-).

As is often the case, I read this book because I know Linda. Our first week at Clarion West, Octavia Butler pronounced her first short story - the short story she'd written before we arrived at the workshop - good enough to sell. Her writing has only improved since.

  1. I remember that week at Clarion as if it was just a while ago instead of ten years. Octavia was intimidatingly brilliant - and very fortunately kind...
I also remember enjoying your story a lot that week! (when I wasn't a wreck about how good your writing and everyone's was.) I kept thinking, what am I doing here)
    Thanks for the awesome review!

  2. I didn't have a story that week, just a random rambling piece of prose with no plot, though it's kind of you to remember otherwise. I just finished Grim Hill 3, so I'm catching up. Tell your publisher to release the next two on Kindle with the lending option on so I can share them with my friend in Albuquerque. Oh, an while you're at it, write more books!!!
