Going under the knife

I went to the ear, nose, and throat doctor today to have my sinuses checked out. I've had seasonal allergies all my life and fifteen years ago a doctor told me to get surgery. I was commuting back and forth from the UK for school at the time so the surgery didn't happen, then I went to law school, then I practiced law, then I got married and my sleep issues had me just about gibbering with insanity, and then Trevor had his sleep apnea that we had to get treated. So, anyway, this morning I finally made it back to the doctor with a new CT scan of my sinuses, and this doctor agreed that I should get surgery.

Which is why I'll be getting said surgery tomorrow at 7:30 a.m. I need to report to the hospital at 6:30. At midnight I have to stop drinking this giant glass of water I have here and fast until surgery time.

My hands are aching as I type this from filling out form after form to get our visas for the UK (turns out I get a work permit automatically - yay!) I haven't written yet today as I've been at the doctor's, then back at the hospital for a pre-op, and then jetting around to get passport pictures for my visa and run other errands, all while toting around my 8 month old son.

Is there anything writerly I can say about this? I dunno. I guess it'd be: don't wait for the perfect time to write. It'll never come. I'll be up writing tonight - given I'll be totally out of it tomorrow anyway, who needs sleep? (This is *bad* behavior if you read my earlier post on sleep issues, something I indulge in only in extreme circumstances, like when I know I have to sleep for a couple days on end whether I want to or not).

  2. Thanks, Melanie. It looks like it did and that I'm feeling okay just afterwards. I dunno, is this comment coherent?
